Gallura Italian

The variety of restaurants near the beach is one of the best things about visiting Coolangatta. Who wouldn't want to enjoy breathtaking views while eating a delicious meal? We have listed just a few of our favourites for you to explore whilst staying with us at Kirra Surf Apartments!

1. Gallura Italian

Maki and Mike, the co-owners, have a combined hospitality experience of over 40 years, having owned and managed successful restaurants. Gallura Italian, their restaurant, provides a welcoming seaside setting inspired by the island of Sardinia and the Italian coast, where respect for local produce has evolved into distinct culinary traditions. These are reflected in their menu, with head chef Mike Dackiw emphasising fresh local seafood, handcrafted pasta, and innovative Sardinian techniques.

Gallura Italian has a regular menu and set menus like the Coastal Italian Seafood Menu, Terra Menu, Shared Set Menu, and Kids Set Menu. They also serve beers, cocktails, wines, and spirits.

2. Bondi Grill’e

Bondi Grill'e is the place to go if you want burgers, especially ribs and steaks. The Bondi Grill'e boys are from Brazil and have over 30 years of combined hospitality experience. They worked in some of the best restaurants and steak houses in Australia and worldwide.

They decided to make the beautiful Gold Coast their home after more than 15 years and make their lifelong dream a reality. Thus, Bondi Grill'e Coolangatta opened its doors in 2015, followed by Bondi Grill'e Uluwatu in 2017 and Bondi Grill'e Burleigh in 2018. Even though they are the same restaurant, each location has a slightly different menu to accommodate everyone's tastes. They all, however, have the same laid-back, friendly atmosphere and, of course, delicious burgers, particularly ribs and steak.

3. Francie’s Pizzeria

Do you want to eat some pizza? This small neighbourhood pizzeria only accepts walk-ins and serves a maximum of 200 pizzas per night. If you're going to try it, you must arrive early. Francie's Pizzeria is a local favourite because their oven-fired special pizzas are delicious, the atmosphere is perfect, and the service is excellent.

Francie's Pizzeria also serves oven-baked focaccia and salads, in addition to pizzas with creative names like Homecoming Queen, Sage Against the Machine, and Love From My Head Tomatoes, to name a few.

4. Coolangatta Asian Cuisine

Are you looking for delectable Thai cuisine in Cooly? Coolangatta Asian Cuisine is open for lunch and dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m, Tuesday through Sunday. Entrees, noodles, curries, fried rice, stir fry, soup, salad, satay, and dessert are all reasonably priced.

And, because curry is a staple of Thai cuisine, the restaurant has a wide selection you'll want to try. Aromatic fresh and ground spices, potatoes, coconut milk, and your choice of meats are combined in Massaman, topped with peanuts. Massaman is a delectable fusion of Indian and Thai curry flavours. Another option is Thai green curry, which combines green chillies, herbs, and coconut cream. But wait, there's more! There's also red curry, which uses red chillies; Panang Curry, the sweetest and mildest curry; and yellow curry, which uses turmeric.

5. Top Noodle

Do you enjoy noodle dishes? A Japanese restaurant in The Strand Coolangatta, a beachfront mall, is the go-to place for locals. Top Noodle is the place to go to eat authentic Japanese food, especially noodles, at a reasonable price. The kids love this one!

There's something for everyone, whatever your tastes, on the extensive menu of over 90 mouthwatering choices. Start your meal with various share plates such as gyoza, tempura, or edamame. Then proceed to select your preferred noodles.

Top Noodles serves a wide variety of noodles, including ramen (egg noodle), udon, and soba in soup, hot, and cold variations. You can also add toppings like roast pork, fried chicken, bean curd, tempura, salmon, or tuna. Popular Japanese dishes such as sushi, rice bowls, curry, and sashimi are also available.

6. Radici Pasta House

The Mancini family decided to embark on a new and exciting adventure in Australia in 2014. After working as chefs in Italy and Australia, Valentina and Otello chose to return to the market in 2019 with a unique hospitality concept.

"Radici" refers to the intention to provide a cuisine deeply rooted in Italian food culture with a modern twist and an emphasis on the overall experience. With this in mind, the Radici Pasta House menu, led by Head Chef Marco Minore, focuses on traditional dishes and modern reinterpretations. Make sure to visit this small piece of Italy in the heart of Coolangatta.

7. HiPoke

Are you looking for something nutritious and light for lunch? How about a poke bowl? Poke is a diced fresh, marinated "ahi" tuna served on top of sticky rice. It can be served as either an appetiser or a main course. It is a traditional Native Hawaiian dish.

You can get one at HiPoke, which opened its doors in Kirra Beach in 2018. They provide locals and tourists with a convenient yet healthy meal option packed with nutrients, colours, and flavours.

They have Signature Bowls like Tuna, Kingfish (GF), Salmon Chicken, Tofu, and a Kids Bowl. Each of these is packed with a variety of colourful, healthy, and tasty ingredients. HiPoke, on the other hand, allows customers to design their bowls in five simple steps.
