The Melanoma March returns to Coolangatta this autumn, inviting all to take part in a fund-raising walk along the scenic foreshore of Coolangatta. For those that have been affected by melanoma as well as anyone wanting to show their support, the Melanoma March is a fun community event that aims to raise funds and spread awareness for melanoma.
Melanoma is the most common cancer among young Australians, and is known across the country as Australia’s national cancer. Australia has the highest number of melanoma sufferers in the world, with the rates having doubled in the last twenty years. Fortunately, melanoma can be treated if diagnosed early.
Occurring annually, the Melanoma March begins at The Strand at Coolangatta and continues along Coolangatta Beach before returning to at The Strand. The total distance is 4km, with plenty of wonderful sights to see along the way. Continuing from last year, the Melanoma March will encourage its participants to wear coloured wristbands: green for those affected by melanoma, orange for those that have lost someone to melanoma, and yellow for anyone that’s showing their support for someone they know.
Take a morning to show your support for melanoma and raise awareness by joining 2019’s Melanoma March on March 3.
BeachCare arrives on the Gold Coast this autumn to encourage coastal preservation, and for anyone that cares for the environment, it’s a rewarding day at the beach that can be enjoyed with both friends and family.
In March, BeachCare will come to Tugun - just a short walk from Kirra Beach - where they will be cleaning up the beach and tending to surrounding vegetation. Tugun, in particular, is affected by erosion and scarping, and this upcoming community event will help to spread awareness for local safety.
You can join BeachCare and their good cause on Tugun Beach on March 23.
By the C returns once again with another lineup that’s guaranteed to get music-lovers and festival-goers salivating in anticipation. Taking place at Coolangatta’s Queen Elizabeth Park - just footsteps from Coolangatta Beach - this all-day concert in the park is all set to be another hit with back-to-back music performances stretching from afternoon to evening.
Queen Elizabeth Park offers the perfect backdrop for By the C, where there’ll be one huge stage and six unmissable performances from some of Australia’s most renowned music artists. Headlining March’s By the C will be bestselling Australian singer John Farnham, supported by ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Daryl Braithwaite, New Zealand’s Jon Stevens, iconic Aussie singer-songwriter Vanessa Amorosi, Mondo Rock and Daddy Cool frontman Ross Wilson, plus up-and-coming pop-star Abbey Stone!
