People travel for a variety of reasons. Some holidays are taken to unwind from work, while others are taken to discover new areas. Some prefer attending events on the road. There are many possibilities to do all of these things on the Gold Coast.
In 2022, you can enjoy Kirra Beach's soft white sand and sparkling water, explore the Gold Coast hinterland, go crab fishing on the magnificent Tweed River, feed koalas at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, sample delectable fruits at Tropical Fruit World, and take part in exciting upcoming Gold Coast events, such as:
The Cooly Classic Ocean Swim is back for another year. The Gold Coast's best ocean swim is divided into four distances, beginning at Snapper Rocks and ending at Kirra Beach. The Cooly 5.0km marathon swim is the most challenging. The field will be limited to only 200 swimmers, so sign up as soon as they open! The Cooly 3.0km is next, ideal for experienced ocean swimmers. If you're not ready for these, there's also a Cooly Classic 2.0, a 1.0km short course called the Cooly 1000, and a Junior Giants event for children aged 10 to 16.
The three-day Gold Coast Open returns on April 30th. The Open Men's and Women's Surfing Competition, held at the legendary Burleigh Point, attracts the greatest surfers from Australia and throughout the world. Apart from the competition, there will be live music, a skateboarding event, and sunrise yoga classes for attendees to enjoy.
The 2022 Boost Mobile Gold Coast Pro presented by Rip Curl is at Snapper Rocks, the world's most famous right-hand sandy point break and a preferred place for the world's best surfers. This big surfing competition was previously known as the Billabong Pro and the Quicksilver Pro. It's an annual event going on for more than two decades.
So don't miss out on the seven-day event that kicks off the WSL Challenger Series in Australia in 2022. The Challenger Series will pit surfers against each other for a spot on the WSL Championship Tour in 2023. The competition attracts the top surfers from across the world.
