October marks a good time to be on Coolangatta Beach, as the iconic Coolangatta Gold returns for another fiery weekend of free sporting entertainment and exciting activities. The action begins on October 7 with the short course, measuring a demanding 21 km in length. Competitors will start off with a 10.5 km ski, proceed into a 2 km swim, then 3 km board, and finally complete the course with a 5.5 km run to the finish line. October 8 marks the real challenge of the Coolangatta Gold and the most entertaining event, as competitors attempt the challenging 41.8 km long course. The long course begins with a 23 km ski, follows up with a 2.1 km run, then 3.5 km swim, 6.1 km board, then a final 7.1 km run to the finish line in Broadbeach. It’s great entertainment, a big boost for the sporting community, and the perfect opportunity to cheer on the competitors and have a fun day by the beach!
October 8 will also feature the Coates Hire Coolangatta Gold Youth Challenge, an event specifically for young aspiring lifesavers and future competitors in water sport. Show your support for the 10-16 year olds that will be completing a course consisting of a 300m soft sand run, 400m swim, 400m run, 500m board, and a final 50m run to conclude the event. Show your support and enjoy the goodhearted entertainment this October 7 and 8 at this year’s Coolangatta Gold!
